Making the Stand
Exhibiting at a show where food, drink and convenience goods take centre stage, we knew as a design and manufacturing company we will stand out from the crowd already. To further stand out we knew that we could not opt for a pop up shell scheme and needed to produce something eye catching.
Initial design work showcased a vast variety of interior design quirks with; reclaimed timber walling, cladded bar with cantilever partitioning overhead, forecourt counters, raised floors, concealed drawers and more. The more we delved into the design and as the show date approached, we took a walk around our factory floor we realised how much unnecessary waste the design would incur. A collective decision was then made that we could not bring ourselves to be intentionally eating up and wasting resources when a similar end result can be achieved for next to nothing.
Offcuts of oak veneer, MDF, softwood, solid surface, oak flooring, paint and carpet were collated and our talented design team completely scraped their extravagant stand design, and began getting to work on a brand new design with what can be achieved with all this forgotten material. Through smart use of small lengths we were able to create eye catching abstract cladding across all four sides of a central pillar. Then continue the design style through to the flooring, with the use of carpet laid amongst within the surplus oak flooring stock to give a randomised orange accent.
During the exhibit
Three days of exhibiting then ensued where we received nothing but positive comments for the stand design. We were in no doubt our stand design was a focal reason as to why we have come away with an abundance of leads and immediate work and new networks for both the commercial and residential sector.
During the exhibit we were approached by several exhibitors to design and manufacture their exhibition stands who all would want to see quality, stand out from their competitors and have concealed storage & fixings as we have thoughtfully done. Proof for them came when breakdown procedures began on the final day, where it took our team less than an hour to dismantle and palletise the stand, into its ten easy to handle components, all without damage ready for its next exhibit.
Hopefully other companies who shown their true colours during the exhibit with a throw-away culture can take on our ethos, can take note of how stands can be designed to last repeat uses whilst still be a statement piece that potential clients will remember.
